Hi, we meet again, here, I want to share a little comment why I am loving in hospitality. I am student while I am writing this blog. I am studying at Xinya Tourism Academy with majoring in Hotel Management (Hospitality).
This is a very good subject. If somebody know the actual meaning of hospitality, they will be interested. Why? Hospitality is a skill how to hold friends.
Hospitality can not be separated with friendly, generosity, cooperative and spirit of socialization. In hospitality, one realize, he is a social creature. He can not live by himself but with another ones. To gain socialization with the others, one should make himself as friendly, generosity and so on in positive meaning. The History of hospitality was about the ordo of hospitaller when Crusade era. This ordo served for homage of the travelers who pilgrimaged to Jerusalem and Holy Lands in Palestine today. This ordo also generated social workers for sick people and war victims in the time of Crusaders. They received, they cured the victims of the wars. They also fought against the enemies in the battle. So, hospitality is formed by generosities, kindness, friendships, brotherhood and encouragements.
Today, the Ordo of Hospitaller is modified to the Ordo of Saint John of Jerusalem or well known as Knight of Malta.
There are two kind of hospitality in serving for humanity, they are medical hospitality and hoteliers. And I choose hotelier, because I have no skill in curing but I have skill in serving the travelers. I love to meet people. I love become as a part of society and communicated with the other people. According to me, although hotel and its management is about business and profits, but it should be not lost its characteristic in hospitality.
As the name: hotel came from basic word host, so the hotelier is one who serves as a host and accommodates for the travelers whom seeking for an accommodation so they can be refreshing themselves for next adventures.
Without hospitality, hotel will not exist as hotel but only a place of scandals.
Bible writes about Abraham's hospitality, as Abraham served for the angels of God, he was called as the friend of God. As Abraham did, so the hotelier should do, to serve the travelers as serve the angels of God.
